As of 4-3-2019, Due to the hardships that all Lawtonians are currently facing, The Lawton Area Transit System will be offering free rides starting Saturday, April 4th 2020. This policy will be in effect until further notice. This includes fixed route, paratransit and the Fort Sill shuttle. We ask that all riders still show their Medical Senior, ADA or Student IDs.
Social distancing is still in effect on all buses. Please adhere to the seating policies on the buses. LATS understands that social distancing is difficult, but please have a purpose for your trip, don't joy-ride.
If you have any questions or concerns, please call the office.
As of 3-19-20, LATS will be reducing the fixed route bus schedule. We will operate only the counterclockwise buses which means there will be only 1 bus on each route. The reason for this change is to comply with the City’s social distancing proclamation that went into effect on 3-16-20. This change will also assist on para transit and the Ft. Sill shuttle services by allowing additional buses and drivers to provide these services. The change will also prepare LATS in case of further health fallout from the COVID-19 virus. These changes will still allow LATS to provide transit needs for the Lawton/Ft. Sill community with no change in operating hours. Please see below a listing of all changes:
Because of the social distancing requirement, the maximum number of passengers per bus is eight. There will be two additional buses and drivers available during peak hours to ensure no passenger will be denied transportation because of the social distancing requirement. Peak hours are from 8:00AM – 3:00PM.
Para transit and the Ft. Sill shuttle vehicles will only carry 2-3 people.
LATS will book future para transit appointments for medical, work and grocery stores only. Capacity constraints will determine any other bookings.
